For more than five decades, Si Fu Gawain Siu has walked the path of mastery in Chinese martial arts. His story began in Brisbane at just three years old, training under his father, Malcolm Sue, and his Hong Kong Grandmaster, Dr. Nat Yuen.
What started as a child’s curiosity soon became a lifelong pursuit of discipline, purpose, and truth through movement. By eight, he was performing the Tong Long hand form before thousands at Brisbane Festival Hall. At fourteen, he achieved the coveted Red Belt, the highest in Kung Fu, and became one of Australia’s youngest instructors to open his own club.
In 2025, after more than 57 years of practice and 45 years leading the Ging Mo Academy (formerly Malcolm Sue Kung Fu School and Tong Long Kung Fu Academy), Si Fu Gawain continues to inspire students across generations to live stronger, think clearer, and act with intention.

Out of respect for his lineage and the late Grandmaster Ip Shui of Hong Kong Chow Gar Tong Long, Gawain evolved his teachings into a modern expression called Ging Mo Kune, meaning “the essence of martial arts.” It reflects his lifelong mission — to distil the wisdom of ancient Kung Fu into lessons that strengthen both mind and body.
At Ging Mo Academy, every class is more than training. It is meditation in motion. Students learn balance, resilience, and courage through authentic Ging Mo Kune and Chen Style Tai Chi Practical Method, under the guidance of a master who embodies calm power and compassion.
Recognised worldwide, Si Fu Gawain Siu holds an 8th Degree Red Belt and is accredited by the World Organisers of Martial Arts (UAE) and the World Kumite Organisation (Thailand). A 20th-generation disciple of the Chen Style Tai Chi Practical Method under Master Chen Zhonghua, Si Fu has proudly represented Australia on the global stage.
In his pursuit to inspire students to continuously grow and challenge themselves, Si Fu entered competitions to refine his own practice, a journey that not only made him a better teacher but also earned him numerous gold medals along the way. As President of Kung Fu Wushu Western Australia, the state’s peak body for Chinese martial arts, Si Fu continues to guide others toward mastery with humility, discipline, and purpose.
From local students to international champions, Si Fu Gawain’s teachings extend far beyond physical technique. His students learn focus, self-awareness, and humility — qualities that empower them in every aspect of life.
Through the Skills for Life Engagement Program, Si Fu Gawain has shared the discipline and values of martial arts with Youth at Risk, helping transform lives through a nationally recognised vocational certificate.
For over 15 years, he also led the Shaolin Temple Cultural Exchange Program, bringing Australian students to train with the legendary Shaolin Warrior Monks in China. During these exchanges, Si Fu taught the monks while they, in turn, shared their wisdom with the Australian teachers and students — a powerful mutual learning experience that deepened cultural understanding and respect.
His philosophy is simple yet profound:
“Martial arts is a universal language — one that connects people, restores balance, and builds strength from within.”
